Direct cremation is cremation only. There is no chapel service, no visitation, no procession. The family receives the cremated remains in a temporary container, hand-delivered by one of us, with the death certificate.
It is the choice of about sixty percent of the families we serve. Some choose it because they plan to hold a private gathering elsewhere — at home, at a cabin, in a park, in their own time. Some choose it because the family is scattered and a formal service is impractical. Some choose it because they have always known they wanted simpler than the traditional pattern.
